As a certified childbirth educator (ICEA), I think it is important to take prenatal classes. I help couples obtain the knowledge necessary to make informed choices regarding mom's care and the care of their baby.
My prenatal class is hands on, gives evidence-based information that includes but is not limited to anatomy, the labor process, comfort measures and breathing, natural relaxation techniques, medications used in labor and interventions.
I teach 1 class at your home. This class includes all aspects of labor and delivery:
The anatomy of pregnancy
The birth process
Interventions and hospital procedures
Recognizing and handling complications
Pain medications used in labor
Help devising your birth preferences using a worksheet
Breathing, relaxation and comfort measures
Mother and Baby care and procedures immediately postpartum
I travel to your home, and I am available weeknights and weekends. I cover Manhattan, Riverdale, Dutchess, Columbia, Greene and Ulster Counties.
The class is about 3 hours long, the cost is $165.00

Infant massage is an ancient art that has traditionally been passed down from mother to daughter. It is a practice that is based on the premise that all infants have the right to have their basic needs met in a respectful, loving manner, using compassionate touch as a vehicle.
I teach infant massage in your home. It is a series of 4 classes that run for 4 consecutive weeks, with an optional 5th class that reviews and integrates all the strokes. Each class runs about 45 minutes, and each class is dedicated to a part of the baby's body. I teach you the strokes by having you follow each step as I massage a doll. Only you massage your baby.
Infant massage can begin when the baby is about 3 weeks old, and it should begin before the child's first birthday. This is a wonderful way to connect with your baby, to help your baby be more relaxed, to ensure your baby will sleep better, and to help your baby if she has tummy ache or gas.
